Robot mower for 500 m²: which ones are actually the right size?

The short version. For 500 m², do not buy a “500 m²” mower: aim for 600 to 1,000 m² of capacity. Seven models in the database fall in that range. The cheapest is the Navimow i108E (€999, RTK antenna); without an antenna, the Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 and Navimow i208 AWD are €1,099.
Why a “500 m²” mower is too tight
Stated areas are maximums measured on a simple, obstacle-free lawn. Your garden has edges, a flower bed, a passage between the house and the hedge, and growth that doubles in spring. A mower sized to the exact square metre will mow non-stop and wear out faster.
So I apply a 20% margin: for 500 m², at least 600 m² of capacity. That rules out the Navimow i105E and Navimow i205 AWD, both rated for exactly 500 m². At the other end, a 2,000 m² mower would work, but you would pay for battery and drivetrain you do not need. If your lawn is closer to 1,000 m², the robot mower for 1000 m² page applies the same rule at that size.

How many charges to mow your 500 m²?
Spec sheets rarely say how many trips to the charging station a complete mow takes. You can work it out from the area per charge that Navimow and Mammotion state for some of their models. Change the area to see what it gives.

Only models whose manufacturer publishes the area per charge appear here.
An i205 AWD has to recharge four times to cover 500 m², an i208 AWD twice, for €200 more. In spring, when the grass grows fast, the mower that recharges twice is more likely to keep up.
Which one for your garden
- Flat, open lawn, antenna OK: Navimow i108E at €999, the cheapest of the group. Note that the EU spec sheet gives no maximum slope. If the antenna bothers you, see the Navimow i105E alternatives, which apply to its bigger sibling too.
- No antenna, 4G in the garden: Navimow i208 AWD (€1,099), network RTK and vision, 45% slope.
- Trees over the lawn: Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 (€1,099, LiDAR + vision, no RTK) or Navimow i208 LiDAR (€1,199). LiDAR does not need to see the sky. The list of robot mowers without an RTK antenna explains the difference between network RTK and LiDAR.
- A bank steeper than 45%: Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000 (80%, €1,399). Measure first with the calculator in the guide to robot mowers for steep slopes.
Navimow and Mammotion make up most of this size band. As the Navimow vs Mammotion comparison shows, at 500 m² their cheapest models are €100 apart, so look mainly at navigation.

Safety margin applied: capacity ≥ area × 1.2. Models with an undisclosed slope are excluded as soon as a slope is entered.
FAQ
Is a mower rated for 500 m² enough for 500 m²?
It is too tight. The manufacturer area is a maximum under ideal conditions. With flower beds, narrow passages or fast spring growth, the mower runs constantly. I use a 20% margin: for 500 m², aim for at least 600 m² of capacity.
What is the cheapest wire-free robot mower for 500 m²?
In my 22 October 2026 check, the Navimow i108E (800 m²) at €999, which needs an RTK antenna. Without an antenna, the Navimow i208 AWD and Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 are both €1,099.
How many charges to mow 500 m²?
Based on the area per charge published by Navimow and Mammotion: 2 charges for an i208 AWD, i208 LiDAR or YUKA mini 2 1000, 3 for an i210 LiDAR Pro, 4 for an i205 AWD.
