Navimow i105E alternatives: what to buy instead?

The short version. The Navimow i105E is still the cheapest in the database (€799). Only switch if one of its three limits applies: the antenna (→ i205 AWD, €899), slopes beyond 30% (→ YUKA mini 2 1000 or LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000), more than 400 m² of lawn (→ i108E, €999).

The three limits of the Navimow i105E

These are the reasons that come up most, and what the sources say about them:

  1. An RTK antenna to install. The i105E combines RTK and vision, and the independent test by therobotmower.co.uk confirms an RTK base station is required. It must sit under open sky, be powered, and stays in the garden.
  2. 30% slope. That is the figure on the European manufacturer page (17°). Some sites say 45%; I keep the official number.
  3. 500 m², no margin. With my 20% margin, it suits lawns up to about 415 m². Beyond that, it will run constantly.

The same test also notes that cutting height is set by hand, “a known fiddly point”. It is less convenient but does not stop the mower doing its job, so I did not count it as a limit.

You do not want an antenna → Navimow i205 AWD (€899). Same area (500 m²), but network RTK with cellular data included, vision, and 45% slope. For €100 more, it fixes two of the three limits. It needs good 4G in the garden.

No reliable 4G, or lots of trees → Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 (€1,099). LiDAR and vision, no RTK, 1,000 m², 45%. At this price, it is the one that relies least on outside help to find its way. The page on robot mowers without an RTK antenna explains why that difference matters.

Your lawn is over 400 m² → Navimow i108E (€999). Same technology as the i105E, 800 m² capacity. But it keeps the antenna, and its EU page gives no slope. For exactly 500 m², the robot mower for 500 m² page compares every correctly sized model.

Your garden slopes → Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000 (€1,399). All-wheel drive, 80% slope, no antenna. Work out your real slope with the guide to robot mowers for steep slopes before paying €600 more.

You want to stay with Navimow, no antenna, under trees → Navimow i208 LiDAR (€1,199). LiDAR and vision, 800 m², 45%. Its page does not explicitly state that no antenna is needed: check before buying.

What about switching brand?

Three of the five alternatives stay with Navimow. If you are torn between the two brands across the range, the Navimow vs Mammotion comparison gives the cheapest of each brand by lawn size.

Lots of trees or tall walls over the lawn?
Good 4G coverage in the garden?
Happy to install an RTK antenna?

Safety margin applied: capacity ≥ area × 1.2. Models with an undisclosed slope are excluded as soon as a slope is entered.

FAQ

Is the Navimow i105E a bad mower?

No. At €799 (manufacturer price checked, €999 struck through), it is the cheapest wire-free mower in the database. It has three limits: an RTK antenna to install, a 30% maximum slope per the EU spec sheet, and a 500 m² capacity that leaves no margin on a 500 m² lawn. If none applies to you, keep it.

What is a Navimow i105E alternative without an antenna?

The Navimow i205 AWD (€899): same 500 m² capacity, network RTK with no antenna, 45% slope. Without 4G in the garden, the Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 (€1,099) navigates by LiDAR and vision, with no RTK.

Can the Navimow i105E handle 45% slopes?

The European manufacturer page says 30% (17°). Some reviews say 45%; I use the manufacturer figure. For 45%, see the i205 AWD or YUKA mini 2 1000; beyond that, the Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000 (80%).
